French Immersion in Burgundy Program overview

The Lapont French Immersion experience extends beyond the Classroom.

There is only one way to truly experience the French lifestyle and that’s by living it! Immerse yourself in the food, culture, history and landscape of France while taking steps towards mastering one of the most beautiful and widely-spoken languages in the world.

Your home is at a beautiful 17th Century Château Domaine located in a unique historical area of France, where Burgundy France-Comté and the Rhône-Alpes meet, nestled amongst 10 hectares of wooded parkland at the foot of the Jura mountains, between Lyon and Geneva.

The hallmark of the Château is conviviality and warm French hospitality. Its natural and peaceful surroundings provide the perfect retreat for your French Immersion vacation.

The grounds include a volley-ball, a badminton court and hammocks for relaxation.The charming living-rooms and rustic libraries provide intimate spaces for reading.

Bicycles are available for guests who wish to explore the quaint nearby villages and discover the local way of life.

The rooms at the Château Domaine residence are spacious and elegant with own en-suite; In the provincial kitchen regional cuisine is prepared daily with local fresh produce, by our in-house chef; a fine mix of French home cooking paired with regional wines.

Our signature Itinerary includes private tours, cooking classes, with outings at local Michelin starred restaurants to explore to taste the regional gastronomy. During the entire journey our guests are cosseted by private transfers, secure with local experts who know the area intimately.

Day 2


A healthy Breakfast is served each morning at the Château in a conviviale and rustic dining-area

Today, we set off to explore the countryside of the Burgundy Région, “La Route des Chateaux en Bourgogne” Walk through the lavish Gardens of the Château de Cormatin, a treasure trove of art and history, shop at La Galerie Artisanale,

Enjoy a Wine Tasting of Burgundy wines at a small producer vineyard near Chardonnay

Lunch today is at a local traditional Restaurant

free-time is set aside to visit a picturesque and remote village situated on the bank of the Saône-et-Loire

Dinner this evening is at the château with French Speakers

Day 3


We start the day with a visit of the famous 13th Century market Marche de Louhans which is traditionally held every Monday under the longest roman arcades in France. 

You can taste some regional gastronomy, join the group for a private tour of an historical Museum or simply immerse yourself in the local culture…

Day 4


French Language Classes

Cooking and Baking Class; learn to cook delicacies such as Oeuf Poché a La Bourguignonnetarte aux pralines roses

In the afternoon, we explore the exceptional environment of La Vallée Baume-Les-Messieurs; nestled in the Jura mountains in the region of Bourgogne-France-Comté

Discover the impressive cascade and ancient Grottes des Moidons…,La reculée de Beaume…

Visit the picturesque village of château-Chalon, perched on a cliff overlooking the famous Jura vineyards and rocky mountains,
Classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France (plus beaux villages de France)

A perfect place for a chat with the locals (mostly winemakers)

Dinner will be an array of tasty dishes and pâtisserie
Followed by a social gathering at a local Auberge with French Speakers

 Day 5


French Language Classes
Join your teachers for a guided walk through the peaceful Mountains of the Revermont…discover the Roman history and hidden paths of this intriguing and natural area…

Learn about the traditions behind Bresse Comté cheese, crafted for more than 10 centuries in the villages surrounding the Jura Massif

Taste fine cool climate wines: Vin Jaune, Vin de Paille, Poulsard and Savagnin… sparkling Crémant du Jura and “Vin de liqueur” known as Macvin du Jura.

Enjoy a Traditional “Bresse” and taste one of the favourite local specialty such as: La Poularde de Bresse appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC)

Day 6


French Language Classes
Today you can participate in a French culinary atelier and learn to cook some regional dishes and bake pâtisserie, such as Saucisse de morteau en brioche sauce…Poires au Mac vin…
Dinner at the Château followed by French cinéma, music and entertainment

Day 7


It’s time to enjoy some leisure time, before your last French Language Session
Today’s cultural activities include a guided private tour of the historical Monastere de Brou.

Free time is set-aside to walk through the charming and artistic town of Bourg-en-Bresse…meet a famous local chocolatier or simply absorb the unique culture of La France Profonde…

Free shopping time

Dress-up for the evening!  enjoy an aperitif with the locals, before being driven to a very chic Michelin starred Restaurant for a memorable Degustation Dinner paired with regional wines.

Day 8


Today you have a number of options open to you, it is a free day!

It’s time to immerse yourself with the local community and practise your French. You can choose to relax at the Château or enjoy an easy bike ride to the nearby remote villages, it will give you a real understanding of the French Way of life…

Experience a Saturday morning rural market, plan a walk to the cascade with a picnic hamper or take part in a fun Pétanque competition.
This evening’s farewell dinner is served outdoors in the Château lavish garden.

Day 9


Today we are heading to Lyon by private transfer.

The time has come to say au revoir to the Equipe, It is always a sad moment for our guests to leave the warm French hospitality and the new friends they have made during this intensive French Immersion adventure

A complimentary night  at a Boutique Hotel in the heart of Lyon has been added to the Itinerary; to allow guests to experience a private visit of  Vieux Lyon (with no harried schedule)

You will be met at your Hotel in Lyon by a local expert who will reveal some intriguing stories about the beautiful Gallic capital..and show you the best of the City’s patrimony, aboard an electric car. The famous Mur des Canuts; this magnificent Trompe L’Oeuil, describes daily life among Lyon residents.

The tour ends at our Friend’s silk Atelier, one of the oldest “Soierie” in Vieux Lyon… discover the rich history of the 19th Century hidden silk passages during a walk through the famous traboules…

There are many activities you can do in Lyon visit Notre-Dame de Fourvière in the Croix-Rousse district, explore the Roman ruins on Fourvière Hill; join a Beaujelais wine-tasting or a promenade through the Lyon International Rose Gardens.

Free time is set aside to explore the old town, before meeting the group at a ” Petit Bouchon” .

Dinner this evening is at a landmark Gastronomy Restaurant in Lyon, you will really enjoy!

Day 10


After breakfast at your hotel, you can leave your luggage with the concierge at the reception if you have a late departure.
Our private drivers will be on hand to ensure that you arrive on time for your connection.
